RELEASE NOTES
1. Patch SG0003229 Release Note
This release note describes patch SG0003229; IRIS Performer
2.2.2 upgrade from 2.2/2.2.1
Note: Patch SG0003229 replaces patch SGSG0003138.
1.1 Supported Hardware Platforms
This patch contains bug fixes for all systems.
1.2 Supported Software Platforms
This patch, also known as Performer 2.2.2, contains bug
fixes for the performer_eoe subsystems shipped with IRIS
Performer 2.2 (version 1274244010) and IRIS Performer 2.2.1
(version 1274244710). The patch should be loaded on any
system which has performer_eoe installed from those
versions. It is only necessary with IRIS Performer 2.2 and
2.2.1, and cannot be installed on prior versions of IRIS
Performer. This patch has been tested with IRIS Performer
2.2 on systems running IRIX 6.2, IRIX 6.3, and IRIX 6.4; and
with IRIS Performer 2.2.1 on IRIX 6.5.
1.3 Bugs Fixed by Patch SG0003229
This patch contains fixes for the following bugs. Bug
numbers from Silicon Graphics bug tracking system are
included for reference.
o SCR 605958 - pfdFindConverterDSO() unable to
dynamically load file-loader DSO's when using the
compat libs
o SCR 600942 - visfly demo not starting; unresolvable
symbol pfuCalcNormalizedChanXY
o SCR 598903 - 2.2 compat libraries have bad lighting
o SCR 591154 - pfBillboards were always using Z axis
o SCR 611816 - pfPipeWindow resize with forked cull
caused slow & per-frame X communication
o SCR 600949 - pfTexture with TexLOD settings would leak
memory
o SCR 603177 - pfUnrefDelete() would delete an object
when its ref count was decremented to 65536. This has
been fixed, and the types of pfGetRef() and
pfUnrefGetRef() have been changed from ushort to int.
o SCR 576096 - The lookahead directive was ignored in
no-imagecache .ct clip texture configuration files.
NOTE: since this is fixed, applications using .ct files
containing a lookahead command may use much more
memory, and may have to be re-tuned (or the lookahead
command removed)
o (No bug number) - The CSB loader has been updated to
enable loading of files created by OpenGL Optimizer 2.0
o SCR 615990 - The FLT loader has been updated to version
15.4g. Several bugs have been fixed, including:
o A bug in revision R15.4fi where
pfuTexGenClipCenterNode was inserted as parent of
root node. In such cases the clip texture was not
centered.
o A bug in revision R15.4fi where the loader's user
data slot was not initialized. This caused core
dumps when certain run-time features were enabled
such as clip planes, behaviors, and adaptive light
points.
o SCR 581332, 581334 - Projected textures behaved
improperly when using multiple channels or when
lighting was off
o SCR 603567 - Inf frame rate reported for Interlaced
video formats. Now, the current swap rate will be
reported which for interlaced video formats might be
faster than the requested frame rate (ie. 60/30Hz).
o (No bug number) - 64bit operation with IRIX 6.5 could
fail.

1.5 Interactions with other patches
This patch replaces patch 3138. It is also known to work
properly with patch 3018.
1.6 Installation Instructions
Because you want to install only the patches for problems
you have encountered, patch software is not installed by
default. After reading the descriptions of the bugs fixed
in this patch (see Section 1.3), determine the patches that
meet your specific needs.
If, after reading Sections 1.1 and 1.2 of these release
notes, you are unsure whether your hardware and software
meet the requirements for installing a particular patch, run
inst. The inst program does not allow you to install
patches that are incompatible with your hardware or
software.
Patch software is installed like any other Silicon Graphics
software product. Follow the instructions in your Software
Installation Administrator's Guide to bring up the miniroot
form of the software installation tools.
Follow these steps to select a patch for installation:
1. At the Inst> prompt, type
install patchSGxxxxxxx
where xxxxxxx is the patch number.
2. Initiate the installation sequence. Type
Inst> go
3. You may find that two patches have been marked as
incompatible. (The installation tools reject an
installation request if an incompatibility is
detected.) If this occurs, you must deselect one of
the patches.
Inst> keep patchSGxxxxxxx
where xxxxxxx is the patch number.
4. After completing the installation process, exit the
inst program by typing
Inst> quit
1.7 Patch Removal Instructions
To remove a patch, use the versions remove command as you
would for any other software subsystem. The removal process
reinstates the original version of software unless you have
specifically removed the patch history from your system.
versions remove patchSGxxxxxxx
where xxxxxxx is the patch number.
To keep a patch but increase your disk space, use the
versions removehist command to remove the patch history.
versions removehist patchSGxxxxxxx
where xxxxxxx is the patch number.
INST SUBSYSTEM REQUIREMENTS No Requirements Information Available. INST SUBSYSTEM CHECKSUMS These checksums help to provide a 'signature' for the patch inst image which can be used to authenticate other inst images. You can obtain this kind of output by running sum -r on the image (from the command line): 10057 11 patchSG0003229 01127 29 patchSG0003229.idb 53318 10 patchSG0003229.man 25779 18715 patchSG0003229.performer_eoe_compat32 29615 10205 patchSG0003229.performer_eoe_compat64 47358 18130 patchSG0003229.performer_eoe_compatO32 57457 17525 patchSG0003229.performer_eoe_sw32 35447 9406 patchSG0003229.performer_eoe_sw64 52594 17392 patchSG0003229.performer_eoe_swO32 INST SUBSYSTEM FILE LISTINGS The following lists the files which get installed from each subsystem in the patch:
